RADIO BEAM

HORSE AND PEOPLE COUNTER

  • NEW TECHNOLOGY

  • HIGH RELIABILITY

  • COUNTS: PEOPLE and HORSES

  • LOW BATTERY CONSUMPTION

  • ALL WEATHER OPERATION

  • VERY LONG SENSING DISTANCE

  • EASY TO INSTALL (NO LEADS)

  • EASY TO HIDE AS BEAM PASSES THROUGH WOOD AND PLASTIC

Description

The counter consists of a radio transmitter and receiver, and operates by detecting the change in radio signal as a person or horse walks between them. The counter discriminates between horses and people by their difference in "length". Count from the two categories of path users is shown on two counters or can be stored in separate loggers. The counter has very low battery consumption and a PP3 lithium battery will last for up to 200 days. The unit is very easy to set up as there is no cable between the two units.

The radio beam passes through thin wood and plastic so that the counter can be hidden behind signs etc. Chambers Electronics can supply suitable housing for the transmitter and receiver if the unit is used where vandalism may be a problem, or can supply low loss plastic if the unit is required to be hidden behind sign posts etc. The counter has no external switches and the various indicators are switched on with the supplied magnet.

Transmitter

The transmitter is housed in a small polycarbonate box and has a single LED on the top surface that is used to indicate the state of the battery.

Receiver

The receiver is housed in a polycarbonate box that has two LEDs mounted on the unit's side. Placing the magnet below the LEDs activates these. The green LED is the battery check LED and this is on if the battery is OK. The beam broken LED indicator is on then there is not sufficient radio energy reaching the transmitter. The battery and two loggers (or counter displays) are housed in a separate waterproof box.

   >200 days operation using lithium batteries
   >100 days using alkaline batteries
AA battery option is available giving >400 days operation.
Data logger A microprocessor based data logger can be supplied which is connected to the receiver box. The logger records the number of people passing in a pre-set time interval. This information is retrieved and analysed by connecting the logger to a standard PC. The logger records data for up to 670 days if set at 1 hour interval.
Additional housing A robust housing can be supplied in situations where vandals may damage the counter.
Mounting plate Radio-transparent plastic material can supplied to be used for making signs etc. behind which the counter can be placed.
